Update 4/26

Meeting with user Daniel (Completed)

  • Container (Alden & David)
  • Proceeded with major change upon Daniel’s (our user) recommendation
  • We are going to use a Nike slim backpack now. The backpack is long lasting, light as possible, and easy to transport. It is the perfect size as it is not too big and not too small and works well for day to day use.
  • The poncho and umbrella will not be changed and remain as Daniel has mentioned that not many of the homeless have an abundance of the materials compared with other things.

Food heating container (Simos, Aravind, & Fathi)

  • The drilling within the heating container was completed with power tools provided at the MIX and the heating pad that had arrived 2 days prior was inserted into the food heating container successfully.
  • A proper functional low cost food heating container has now been made and is now in the process of adding upon further improvements as much as possible before demo day.

Pillow & Blanket (Bri)

  • Prototype 2 of the pillow is finished and as of now will serve as the final prototype for upcoming demo day of the project.
  • Blanket

       – Prototype 2 as mentioned before is still in the making process. However, more different kinds of patches were made in the last 2 days and are still ongoing.

       – Prototype 3 like before is still being planned to be crocheted from old rags/clothes. Given the time constraints before demo day of the project next Monday, prototype 3 will most likely serve as the final prototype considering its ability to be the most quickly/efficiently assembled.

       – More yarn and needles for the creation of the blanket were gathered and the color of the yarn has been changed to blue and light gray.
